JFLL, JSIF Jamaica graduates Learners in St. Thomas

GraduatesThe Coke Methodist Church Hall in Morant Bay was filled with joy at the graduation of the graduates under the JFLL, JSIF Bridge Jamaica programme on January 20, 2016.

With their new achievements in Mathematics, English, Life Skills and Information Technology at the JFLL High School Diploma Equivalency (HSDE) Basic level, the graduates are now better prepared to pursue their aspirations ranging from gaining employment and entrepreneurism to becoming an artist.
They successfully completed a one year educational programme executed by the JFLL under the Caribbean Development Bank’s Community Investment Project (CIP), managed by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund. The $25.3M CIP programme facilitates a number of projects and initiatives targeting 30 PATH families in Trelawny, Portland and St. Thomas.
The education component was delivered at the JFLL Adult Education Centre at Lyssons, St. Thomas that was the recent focus of a major upgrade to its classroom and technology facilities as part of a larger JFLL retooling project to deliver the High School Equivalency programme.
The learners have been encouraged to remain in the HSDE programme as its terminal qualification, 5 CSEC subjects (including Mathematics and English Language), will empower them in their personal, professional and social endeavours.

The JFLL is an agency of the Ministry of Education and is charged with the execution of lifelong learning interventions for adult and youth from basic literacy to the secondary level. The JFLL operates over 27 education centres across Jamaica thereby living up to its motto “Lifelong Learning for Lifelong Opportunities.”
